1 Introductions, apologies, substitutions and declarations of interest
1.1 The Chair welcomed Members to the meeting of the Children, Young People and Education Committee.
1.2 Apologies were received from Laura Jones, there was no substitute.
2 Papers to note
2.1 The papers were noted.
3 Motion under Standing Order 17.42(ix) to resolve to exclude the public from the remainder of this meeting and for the first item of the meeting on 10 May
3.1 The motion was agreed.
4 Services for care experienced children: exploring radical reform - consideration of the draft report
4.1 The Committee considered the draft report.
It would be considered further at next week’s meeting.
5 Welsh Government Draft Budget 2023-24 - consideration of the Welsh Government response
5.1 Members considered the response from the Welsh Government and paper to note 10, a letter from the Finance Committee. Members agreed to write back to the Finance Committee with their views on ministerial written evidence.
6 Education access for disabled children and young people - consideration of engagement strategy.
6.1 Members agreed the approach to engage with
the Welsh Youth Parliament. They also discussed and agreed the
preferred role and output of the online advisory group.
7 Pre-appointment hearing for Chief Executive of the Commission for Tertiary Education and Research - consideration of the approach
7.1 Members agreed the approach. They also agreed to write to the Minister for Education and Welsh Language regarding the pre-appointment process.
